Objective
To develop the skills and knowledge necessary to setup and sail your boat in moderate conditions. This course will aslo prepare you for further specialised courses and instructorship.
Previous Knowledge / Experience
You will be expected to have completed, or have experience equivalent to the Basic Skills course and have been sailing regularly. If you haven't been practicing regularly you will need to get some contact time or have the course lengthened as required.
Duration
Intensively over 4/5 days or 10 days in a summercamp format.

You can take this course over 3 weekends or 6 Saturdays ...available all-year round
What to Bring:
By now you should probably have your own kit but we have wetsuits etc if you don't. You can hire these for €5.
We provide PFDs / Lifejackets FREE.

In addition to the syllabus of Basic Skills... Tuning and performance setup, Roll-tacking, Handling successfully in all wind conditions, Sailing Backwards and Rudderless, Capsize recovery - high winds and entrapment, 5 E's, Anchoring and sailing off an anchor, Weather Forecasting - Terminology, Patterns and apply the forecast to your activities.
Also covered in greater detail than before are Tidal Heights, Sails/ Foils and how they interact for optimum boat performance, Further Training and where-to next.
