Objective
The Recreational Powerboat Course will provide you with the skills to plan and use your boat for general recreation during daylight hours and in familiar waters.
Learn to enjoy Daytrips, Longer Coastal Passages and activities like Water Skiing.
Previous Knowledge / Experience
MUST hold the National Powerboat Certificate or equivalent. It is also strongly recommended that you hold a First Aid and VHF SRC.
Duration
14 Hours / 2 Days but we adjust the programme slightly to avail of dusk on day 1 whenever possible to add to the experience.

Preparation of your boat for various activities, Mooring, Landing on a beach and Anchoring, Swimming from a boat, Towed Activities - Skiing, Wakeboards, Donuts etc, Angling, Boat Handling, Navigation - use of charts, compass error and use of electronics.
Passage Planning in line with SOLAS V regs, Weather Forecasts, Tides at secondary ports, IRPCS, Types of boats and their best uses, Incident Management and Emergencies onboard, Engine, Boat and Kit care and maintenance.

We can also deliver this course in your own boat once some pre-conditions have been met.
Age:
It is illegal in Ireland for Under 16s to operate a powerboat capable of over 17 knots.
Under 12s may not operate a boat with an engine rated greater than 5 HP.
