Previous Knowledge / Experience
MUST hold the National Powerboat Certificate or equivalent. At least one member of a Safety Boat Crew should hold a First Aid and VHF SRC.
This is a great course for members of Emergency and Rescue organisations.

Material Covered / Syllabus
Preparation of Boat for activities, Rescue Boathandling - holding station near various craft, Race Management - starts, mark mlaying etc., Dealing with Sailing Dinghies - single and multi handers, capsized, turtled, stuck in mud, Windsurfers, Canoes & Kayaks, Kitesurfers, Towing various craft - astern and alongside, multiple craft towing.
Also covers Boat Types and suitability, Incident management and Medical Emergencies, Care of Boat & Kit and Further Training.
At Aquatrek we also use capsized Thundercats and frequently do some work with the local Lifeboat and Helicopter when we run this course.

Waterproofs AND a wetsuit if you have them. We have a stock if you're stuck. We provide PFDs / Lifejackets.

Age:
It is illegal in Ireland for Under 16s to operate a powerboat capable of over 17 knots.
Under 12s may not operate a boat with an engine rated greater than 5 HP.
